We are excited to share that the Lu Lab has received a new R01 award from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) to investigate how aging and Alzheimer’s disease disrupt oligodendrocyte lineage cells, the cells responsible for producing and maintaining myelin in the brain.
Our project focuses on how norepinephrine signaling supports oligodendrocyte function and myelin health. By defining how this pathway changes during aging and Alzheimer’s disease, we hope to identify new strategies to preserve brain connectivity and slow cognitive decline.
This award provides exciting new opportunities for our lab as we continue to grow. We are actively welcoming talented and motivated graduate students and postdoctoral researchers interested in neuron-glia interactions, myelination, aging, and neurodegenerative disease.
